Kate Korten Design Strategies
is an award winning full service color and design consultancy from concept to artwork to product development.
Bio Growing up in Manhattan with summers on Block Island, Kate Korten’s sense of style was honed under the influence of her advertising art director father, her gourmet cook mother and the talented stream of artists and intellectuals who gathered at their table. (Danish furniture designer Jens Risom and photographer Hans Namuth, famous for his action shots of Jackson Pollack, were frequent members of the clan.)
Madison Avenue in its heyday also played a role. “Dad worked such long hours that he would take my brother and me to his office on weekends,” Kate remembers. “I can still recall the ripe scent of pastels and the brilliant punch of guache paint and illustrator inks. Dad would give me storyboard pads to draw on with little TV frames and I was in heaven.”
Kate’s affinity for art and design eventually took her to Italy where she studied for a number of years. Although she has lived and worked in New York City for most of her adult life, she enjoys close ties with friends in Florence and a love of everything Italian.
In 1995 Kate founded Kate Korten Design Strategies a full service design resource for the home furnishings market. In addition to her signature collections she consults to a variety of industry notables. Kate Korten Design Strategies provides a comprehensive approach to product design beginning with a tactical analysis of color, fashion and market trends.
